I am raising money to help build healthier communities in India. 

Share-A-Plate fundraiser
This fundraiser aims to train 12 health leaders as "change agents" in illness prevention, nutrition and basic health treatment, which could affect up to 3600 households.

In aid of this cause, we ask of you to bring a dish to share, and in order to participate, a donation of $20 is also required.

Please indicate a special dish you wish to share so we can cater for variety. Your dish may be appetiser, main or dessert.

We expect up to 100 dishes.

About the cause
The money raised will go to Opportunity International Australia, a non-profit organisation that exists to provide people living in poverty with opportunities to transform their lives.

Opportunity have a goal to train 1,000 young women as health leaders in poor communities throughout India, empowering them to become ‘change agents’ and leaders in illness prevention, nutrition and basic health treatment. A donation of $165 will enable one woman to be trained as a community health facilitator. Each leader then goes on to train approximately 200-300 additional households.

With the average household in India made up of five people, this means that each health leader has the capacity to help empower between 1,000 and 1,500 people. That’s a lot of change for just $165!
